A national connection between state organisations

ASDWA identifies 1988 as its establishment year. Its stated activities include coordination with state associations, supporting major trials and administering interstate and international teams. For someone new to the sport, the national site provides context; the relevant state association or host club is usually the next place to investigate local participation. National coverage should not be read as a single ruleset for every working dog activity.

Supreme Australian Championship resources

The association’s Supreme page describes a championship that moves between participating states. It also provides historical context and links to results and rules. Research a particular year as its own edition: host location, timetable, judges and results belong to that year. The separate Ted Gaby Interstate Challenge also needs its own competition context when recording results or team-selection history.

International competition context

The Trans Tasman Test concerns competition between Australia and New Zealand, with the Wayleggo Cup identified on the association’s site. This is useful background for understanding why a national team announcement and an individual trial result are different records. When following a named dog or handler, locate the original selection or results publication before attributing an international appearance.

Build a source trail

Use national event information to establish the competition, then follow the results archive, state links and relevant organiser publications. Save the URL and edition name beside any note you intend to cite later. A concise historical winners list can establish the stated winner without establishing every entrant, every round or a complete career. Working Dog preserves these distinctions when connecting published facts to dog and handler histories.
