Three different questions

What breed is the dog? What job does it perform? Under which rules does it compete? Answer each separately so a farm dog is not assigned a sporting record it has never earned.

Build useful comparisons

Compare evidence relevant to the task: demonstrations for a job, registry records for ancestry and official results for competition. Avoid using success in one category as proof of all three.

Using this reference

Use this explanation to understand the term in context. For an entry decision or disputed result, check the current rules and the original event documentation; a glossary cannot replace the authority’s decision.

A practical profile structure

Give a dog separate fields for registry breed, demonstrated work and verified sporting results. A Kelpie might have sheep-work footage with no competition record, or a scent-work result with no farm experience. That structure accurately represents what is known without forcing every dog into a single ability label.
